It is a time of resolutions. The reason most people make resolutions is because they are discontent with the
state or size of their body, mind, or bank account. But, the majority of us toss aside most of the serious resolutions we
make for ourselves within a few days or weeks.
I was talking to my doctor about a weight-loss patch I had seen advertised. Supposedly you stick it on,
“Sure,” he said. “If you put it over your mouth.”

and the pounds melt away. “Does it work?” I asked.
Needing to shed a few pounds, my wife and I went on a diet that had specific recipes for each meal of the day.
But when we realized we were gaining weight, not losing it.
I read the fine print, “servings for six.”

I followed the instructions closely, dividing the finished recipe in half for our individual plates. We felt terrific
and thought the diet was wonderful—we never felt hungry!
